Southwest Transmission Manager
ResponsibilitiesWork with development and power marketing teams on market and site selection for development of utility scale wind farms in southern region of US, with primary focus on ERCOT and SPP, and secondary focus on WECC and southeastern US.
Develop thorough understanding and evaluation of potential interconnection alternatives for various projects, and the corresponding costs, benefits, and challenges for each alternative.
Initiate interconnection requests and shepherd requests through completion of the study process, then negotiate, execute and securitize interconnection agreements.
Perform power flow analyses as necessary to develop actionable information for development team.
Scope, request, review and verify interconnection studies, congestion studies, and other analyses from transmission providers and multiple outside consultants.
Track transmission projects and overall transmission development within the various ERCOT, SPP, and other regional planning groups.
Assist Development, Regulatory, Construction, Engineering, Operations, and Dispatch teams with multiple aspects of project development, design and operation.
Develop and maintain strong working knowledge of regional transmission systems and providers.
Participate in and act as an advocate for the company and the industry in the transmission regulatory process.
Duplicate studies performed by transmission providers for QA/QC, at times working on short time lines, with less than complete information.
Build upon current familiarity with current regarding changing regulatory requirements and provide regular updates to development team.
A BA or BA/MA in Electrical Engineering or related/similar field from an accredited college or university.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal candidate will have 4-6 years transmission and interconnection experience with a major transmission system operator, major utility, or utility scale independent power producer.
Knowledge and experience of nodal markets, LMPs, and congestion management strongly preferred.
Applicant should have experience performing studies with one or more power system analysis packages such as PTI, PSSE, GE PSLF or Powerworld Simulator.
Must be able to travel occasionally.
Applicant should be experienced in market participant driven communities and should be able to drive those communities towards results that favor company's position.
Must be thoroughly familiar with ERCOT and SPP standard operating procedures and the CREZ process and implementation.
