Senior Civil Engineer
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES & PURPOSE OF POSITION
Manage outside consultants for the civil design, geotechnical report and foundation designs for wind farms.
Develop specifications for the engineering design of civil, geotechnical and structural components of wind farms.
Provide preliminary engineering design and review for civil and structural elements of wind farms to assess cost, constructability and risk exposure.
Support Development and Construction Project Managers to assure timely and cost effective resolution to civil, geotechnical and structural engineering issues.
Review and approve civil and structural engineering and design documents prepared by contractors on wind farm projects for consistency with Project requirements.
Provide input into the civil scope of work for Balance of Plant Agreements.
Provide technical review and professional opinion of the quality of consultant and contractor civil, geotechnical and structural bids.
Identify and/or obtain as needed with the assistance of outside consultants, the permits necessary for the construction of wind farm projects. Permits may include NPDES Permit, DOT permits, drainage district permits and utility easements.
Assist Project Controls and Development with construction schedules and civil, geotechnical and structural documentation of construction activities.
Periodic site visits to inspect foundations, roads and drainage construction.
Coordinate with the Site Civil Supervisor on daily construction issues and respond to Civil RFI questions.
Respond to construction related issues for civil and structural items as necessary.
Responsible for clear, concise and organized verbal and written communications tasks and activities with engineering, development, operations and other external and internal stakeholders of Wind Farm projects.
Travel for work up to 50%
QualificationsWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 7 years of professional experience in Civil Engineering including design and construction in one or more of the following: mass concrete placement, concrete QA/QC procedures, geotechnical and DOT agency roadway
Experience in/with: RFI and submittal review for construction projects; Documentation; Structural and geotechnical engineering software, AutoCAD, MS Office and SAP.
P.E. License in at least one state (or ability to attain one within a year of hire).
B. S. in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
M. S. in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited school is a plus.
MBA from an AACSB accredited school is a plus.
